Hair Diffuser question..? Please helpppp?

I just bought a new remmington professional hair dryer with a diffuser attachment. I have naturally curly hair and i really want a more wavy look! I have some gel products from Frizzease that can be used before i start blow drying my hair. Please let me know how to get a wavy smooth look rather than curly with LESS VOLUME (i already have plenty) ! Thanks!
PS i tried the diffuser today with some gel in it before and it came out kinda poofy from all the curls:( i really want a wavier look.

Diffusers are made for producing maximum curl and volume. For a more wavy look, try adding a quite a bit of a smoothing or straightening product to your hair, and comb it down until it hangs straight before letting it dry naturally. Or, if your hair is long enough, french braid it, let it dry, and then gently comb it out with a very wide tooth comb.
